Floating Lettering: 3 Walls Anamorphic Illusion at Magic City

Magic City in Dresden, Germany – 2016

I had the great honor of participating in the world premiere of “Magic City – The Art of the Street”, held at the Zeitenströmung complex in Dresden, Germany. Designed as an immersive, portable “pop-up city” dedicated to global urban art, this traveling exhibition brought together over 60 iconic international artists in one shared space—including Banksy, Blek le Rat, Ron English, Leon Keer, ROA, and Olek.

A 3 Walls Anamorphic Illusion

For this event, I painted a massive 3D anamorphic mural standing 4 meters high, executed across two perpendicular walls with a large portion extending onto the floor. The artwork features a suspended floating lettering piece designed to interact directly with the gallery’s physical architecture, giving the visual effect of emerging from three recessed wall openings.

Perspective and Depth

When viewed from the precise vantage point, the floor and wall elements align perfectly to make the lettering appear to break through the surface and float in mid-air. It was a privilege to be part of such a groundbreaking collective exhibition alongside so many incredible artists, and I was extremely happy with how the final piece turned out.
